Verified retreats to start with

After the stay

“The confirm-before-charge part is why I finally booked. I requested three different weeks before one host came back with space, and I never paid anything until my dates were settled. What arrived matched the listing exactly: the room, the meals, the schedule.”
Hannah R., yoga retreat in Pokhara · March 2026
“I compared training schools for months before this one. Knowing someone had actually visited the school in person made the credentials easy to trust, and paying only the deposit up front kept the money side simple. I left certified and glad I had waited for a verified place.”
Daniel K., 200-hour graduate, Kathmandu Valley · February 2026

Retreats in Nepal: what you can book

A retreat in Nepal is a structured, multi-day wellness program with your room and meals included, hosted by an operator our team has verified in person. Four kinds make up most of what travellers come for:

  • Yoga retreats: Multi-day programs of daily yoga, meals, and a room, from gentle beginner weeks to advanced intensives. (4 verified, from $390.)
  • Teacher training (YTT): Yoga Alliance–registered 200 and 300-hour certification courses, usually with a private room. (2 verified, from $1,480.)
  • Meditation retreats: Guided and silent programs, from beginner mindfulness to Buddhist courses and donation-based Vipassana. (4 verified, from $440.)
  • Trek-wellness journeys: Licensed-guide Himalayan treks with daily yoga and meditation: Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill, and more. (2 verified, from $940.)

How verified booking works

You request your dates for free. The operator confirms availability, and only then do you pay a deposit: our commission, 10% or 15% of the total. On a $1,000 retreat with a standard operator, that's a $150 deposit now and $850 paid directly to your host on arrival. If the operator can't confirm your dates, nothing is charged. See how the deposit and balance work, our 5-point verification, and the refund policy in plain language.

What a retreat in Nepal costs

All prices on NepalRetreat are all-in, in USD, with the deposit shown before you book. The deposit is our commission: 10% at the founding rate, 15% standard. The balance goes to your host on arrival. The founding-rate deposits below are 10% of each typical band; 2026 verified figures:

CategoryTypical all-inFounding deposit (10%)
Yoga retreats$300–1,500$30–150
Teacher training (YTT)$1,100–2,100$110–210
Meditation retreats$0 (donation)–1,200$0–120
Trek-wellness journeys$900–2,500$90–250

Donation-based meditation carries no deposit: you give directly to the centre. For the full breakdown, see the YTT cost guide and each listing's own price panel.

Which retreat is right for you?

Start from what you want, not from a category name. Four common starting points, each routed to the verified retreats that fit:

When to come

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the clearest, most popular months; winter suits Pokhara and Poon Hill, and monsoon (June–August) is the traditional Ayurveda season. For the full picture, see the best time for a retreat in Nepal.

Trek-wellness: Nepal's signature experience

The one thing global platforms can't copy: a yoga trek in Nepal. Walk the Annapurna trails, sleep in teahouses, and practise at sunrise above the clouds. Try the Annapurna Base Camp yoga trek or the shorter Poon Hill route.

Free & donation-based options

Some of Nepal's most respected practice is donation-based, and we list it without commission. If you want the traditional 10-day course, read our complete guide to Vipassana in Nepal. Monastery life is open too: our guide to staying in a Buddhist monastery covers which monasteries welcome guests and how to arrange it directly. When you'd prefer a supported paid retreat with a teacher and your own room, compare meditation retreats here.

Prepare for Nepal

Why Nepal (and not Bali or Rishikesh)?

Three places dominate the conversation about a wellness retreat in Asia: Nepal, Bali, and Rishikesh. Each is genuinely good at something, so the honest answer is that it depends on what you are after. Nepal is the only one of the three with the high Himalaya on its doorstep, which is why the trek-wellness journey, a licensed-guide trek with daily practice woven into the trail, exists here and almost nowhere else.

The second difference is how you book. Every operator here is checked in person by our Nepal-based team, and trek guides carry a government licence, a layer of vetting most platforms leave to reviews alone. You pay us only the deposit, which is our commission; the balance goes straight to your host when you arrive, so the money stays with the people running your retreat.

The honest trade-off: Nepal has fewer large resort-spas than Bali, and outside Pokhara and Kathmandu the infrastructure is simpler: roads, power, and hot water can be basic. If a polished resort is the point of your trip, Bali may suit you better. If verified teachers, a mountain setting, and paying only once your dates confirm matter more, this is where to look. Common questions

How does booking a retreat in Nepal work?

You request your dates for free. The operator confirms availability, and only then do you pay the deposit: 10% or 15% of the total. The balance is paid directly to your host when you arrive. Nothing is charged before your dates are confirmed.

What does 'verified' mean here?

Our Nepal-based team visits every operator in person and runs a 5-point check: legitimacy and registration, teacher credentials, safety and accommodation, track record, and commercial readiness. Only operators we have checked appear on the site.

How much do retreats in Nepal cost?

Most yoga retreats run about $300–1,500 for the whole program, a 200-hour teacher training is $1,100–2,100 all-in, and yoga treks are $900–2,500. Every price shown is all-in, with the deposit and balance split shown before you book.

Which cities can I book in?

At launch we cover Pokhara and the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal's two main retreat hubs. We add verified operators every week as our visits continue.

Is my deposit refundable?

If an operator can't confirm your dates, you pay nothing. Once booked, each listing follows its own cancellation policy, shown in plain language before you pay. Operator-caused cancellations are refunded in full, automatically.

Can I combine a retreat with a trek?

Yes. Our trek-wellness journeys combine daily yoga and meditation with guided Himalayan trekking, a natural pairing, especially from Pokhara at the Annapurna gateway.

Are these retreats suitable for beginners?

Yes. Most yoga and meditation retreats in Nepal welcome complete beginners, and every listing states the level it is pitched at before you request dates: beginner, mixed, or experienced. If you have never practised, filter for beginner-friendly programs and start there.

Is Nepal safe for solo women travellers?

Nepal is a well-trodden destination for solo women, and a retreat is one of the most supported ways to visit: a small group, a fixed base, and a host on hand. Safety, accommodation, and licensed guides are part of the in-person check we run on every operator.
