Our 5-Point Verification: What “Verified” Means

Every retreat on NepalRetreat is checked in person by our team in Nepal. Here are the five things we verify before an operator can appear, and how the badges are earned and audited.

1. Legitimacy & registration

We confirm the operator is a real, registered business at a real address, not a closed school or a listing that only exists online.

2. Teacher credentials

We check that teachers hold the qualifications they claim: Yoga Alliance registration for schools, and relevant training for meditation and trek guides.

3. Safety & accommodation

We inspect the rooms, kitchen, and practice spaces in person, and confirm safety basics like fire exits and clean water.

4. Track record

We look at the operator's history: how long they have run, past guests, and how they handle problems.

5. Commercial readiness

We confirm they can host international guests well: clear pricing, honest cancellation terms, and reliable communication.

Common questions

Who does the verification?

Our Nepal-based team. A founder or team member visits each operator in person in Pokhara or the Kathmandu Valley. This is not a remote or self-declared check.

Can an operator pay for a badge?

No. The verified badge is admin-controlled and earned only by passing the checks. It cannot be bought, and we can revoke it if standards slip.

How often is verification renewed?

We re-check operators periodically and after any serious guest complaint. The badge shows the date of the most recent verification.

What happens if an operator fails a check?

They don't appear on the site. Only operators that pass verification can list and take bookings. Verification precedes go-live.
